So the main reason why I returned to Carnuntum was to attend the annual Festival of Late Antiquity. I have previously attended a similar event called "333" back in 2018 and it was fantastic.

I always wanted to explore the reconstructed city quarter more and further, so this year, I decided I should stay in Carnuntum for a few weeks! Besides, it gave me a very good reason to get away from the Japanese summer heat, notorious for its high humidity brought in by incessant wave of typhoons. Sure, the temperature here in Austria sometimes goes up to 32 or 33 degrees Celsius, or maybe 36 in a few days to come, but the humidity is relatively low compared to the unbearable Japanese dampness (which can go up to 80-90%!). So for that reason alone, I'm happy to be here! :)

The image on the left is the only drawing I've managed to do during the Festival because I was so busy taking all the photos and videos. I drew Anita-san, a reenactor who helped me to meet up with Andrea-san. She also showed me how to spin. I now have the opportunity to get my hands on spinning flax for the first time in my life...All for the research to bring the story of Falx to life, to depict people's lives accurately (or at least somewhat believable) back in the 2nd century AD! :D
